The VTCT Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement is a practical-based qualification intended for those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment (i.e. workshop, classroom or other training environment).

You will develop an underpinning knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification.


Upon completion of both practical and theory elements,microteaching and written assignments a VTCT Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement will be awarded.


Theory elements are covered online in your own home and in your time via self study using our Virtual Learning Environment.


There must be evidence of you carrying out a minimum of two assessments of two learners’ skills, knowledge and understanding. A minimum of one assessment must be observed.

Who is this qualification aimed at?
The VTCT Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement is aimed at those who assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the work environment, eg. a workshop, classroom or other training environment.
Are there any prerequisites?
In line with Occupational Competence Guidelines, all learners are expected to hold a minimum Level 3 or equivalent qualification in the subject area that they will assess / teach, an appropriate assessing and teaching qualification and a minimum of two years’ industry experience. It is desirable that applicants have 2 years teaching experience, although this is flexible. You will need access to a cohort of learners, so that you can gather evidence of real assessments. You should also possess communication skills sufficient to allow you to address the assessment requirements of the qualification. It is recommended that you have a level of general education comparable to GCSEs. You should be committed to fulfilling both Practical and Theory Elements. You must meet the required Total Learning Hours (TLH) by attending our centre for the Practical Elements and by working through the Theory Elements, taking part in online discussions, assessments and reviews with your tutor and assessor via our Virtual Learning Environment.
What are National Occupational Standards?
National Occupational Standards are statements of the standards of performance individuals must achieve when carrying out functions in the workplace, together with specifications of the underpinning knowledge and understanding. Units in this qualification have been mapped to the relevant Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) NOS (where applicable).
How long does it take to complete this qualification?
This qualification can be completed in a minimum of 3 months, on average it takes 6 months to complete the practical and theory elements.
How is the course delivered?
Theory elements are covered online in your own home, in your own time and at your own pace via self study using our Virtual Learning Environment. The theory elements are perfectly suited to online delivery therefore they can be delivered and learning assessed online. You will be fully supported by your course tutor who’s role it is to help and guide you through the process from beginning to end. Both your tutor and assessor will ensure that you not only reach your goals but maintain industry and awarding body standards. You will also have access to our private Facebook group where you can communicate with other learners and graduates.
How can I progress from this qualification?
You can progress from the VTCT Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement directly to employment as an assessor of vocationally related achievement in non-working environments.
When do I attend the Centre for the Practical Elements?
Once you begin working through the theory elements your tutor will contact you to schedule the dates and times for your practical elements. These dates and times will be scheduled to fit in with the learner, where possible. Many times this leads to one to one tutor sessions, for which we make no extra charge! If any other learners are ready to schedule their practical element sessions at the same time you will study together in a group, with a maximum of 6 learners per tutor.
